In 1984, Iron Maiden released Powerslave – their fifth studio album, built entirely from the mythology and history of ancient Egypt – and immediately launched the World Slavery Tour 84-85, a cross-continental run that cemented their name in Heavy Metal history. This design is a visual relic of that era. On a 100% washed cotton blank in vintage gray: naturally aged silver tones, breathable classic rock band tee comfort, and DTG printing that captures every line of the artwork as if drawn by hand.
Pharaoh Eddie – The Crook and Flail of Heavy Metal’s Supreme Ruler
The front of the shirt centers on one of the most iconic Pharaoh Eddie graphic tee designs in rock merch history: Eddie the Head transformed into an ancient Egyptian mummy Pharaoh, crowned in the distinctive gold-and-blue striped Nemes headdress of royalty – the same regal headpiece the world recognizes from the legendary mask of King Tutankhamun. Crossed before his chest, Eddie holds the crook and the flail: one representing the shepherd’s duty to guide and protect, the other embodying punishment and absolute authority – the twin pillars of supreme Pharaonic power. The IRON MAIDEN name runs beneath in the band’s signature font, edged in bold red, commanding as ever.
This imagery runs deeper than design. The title track Powerslave narrates a Pharaoh confronting death, realizing that even supreme power cannot escape annihilation – a sharp-edged mockery of rulers who appoint themselves gods. Every detail of this shirt is built from that idea.
World Slavery Tour 84-85 – Legacy of a Cross-Continental Conquest
The back of the shirt documents history. WORLD SLAVERY TOUR 84-85 is styled boldly at center. Below it, a winged emblem drawn from the Winged Sun of the god Horus – a symbol of divine protection and royal sovereignty – with its center replaced by a horned skull, transforming a sacred ancient icon into pure Heavy Metal iconography. Beneath runs the list of nations Iron Maiden conquered on this legendary tour: U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Japan,… – testament to a genuinely global musical dominion.
